Legal
Terms of service.
These terms are the rules for using CutGPT on the web and on iPhone. They explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

Acceptance
These terms are an agreement between you and CutGPT (“we” or “us”). They cover CutGPT's website, web app and iPhone app (together, “CutGPT”).
By using CutGPT, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use CutGPT. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle information.
You must be at least 13 to use CutGPT, or 16 where the law sets a higher minimum age. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
If you use CutGPT for a business, you agree to these terms on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.
The service
CutGPT is an AI video editor for talking-head videos. You film one long take, mistakes and all. CutGPT transcribes it, cuts retakes, restarts, filler words and long pauses, and adds captions.
You can use CutGPT two ways:
- The web app runs in your browser on your computer. It works best in a recent desktop Chrome or Edge, and for now it understands English speech only.
- The iPhone app records and edits on your iPhone.
The two are separate: edits aren't synced between them.
We may change, add or remove features. We try to keep CutGPT available, but it may sometimes be down, for example for maintenance or when a service it relies on has a problem.
Your content
You keep ownership. You keep all the rights you have in your videos and in the transcripts, captions and edits you make from them with CutGPT (“your content”). We don't claim ownership of your content.
Your web videos stay on your device. The web app edits in your browser. Your videos, transcripts and edits are stored on your computer and never uploaded, so we don't receive them. In the iPhone app, your edits are stored on your iPhone.
You need the rights. You're responsible for having the rights to everything you edit and publish with CutGPT. That includes permission from anyone who appears or can be heard in your videos, and the rights to any music, images or logos in them.
Keep your own copies. Web edits live only in your browser. They aren't backed up, and clearing the site's data deletes them. Keep copies of anything you can't afford to lose.
Acceptable use
Don't use CutGPT to:
- Break the law, or help someone else break it.
- Infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.
- Record people without the consent the law requires.
- Harass, threaten or defame anyone, or make content that exploits or endangers children.
- Mislead people, such as with false claims about a product you sell.
- Get around the free-edit limit, the paywall or other plan limits.
- Copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or sublicense CutGPT, except where the law or an open-source license allows it.
- Interfere with CutGPT or the services it relies on, such as by overloading them or accessing them with automated tools.
When you post videos made with CutGPT, follow the rules of the platform you post to. If you break these rules, we may suspend or end your access (see Termination below).
Plans, trials and billing
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3 edits |
| Pro | $49.99/month after a 3-day free trial | Unlimited edits |
On the web, free edits are counted per browser. Today, Pro is sold only in the iPhone app.
Free trial and auto-renewal
- Pro starts with a 3-day free trial. You won't be charged during the trial.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, you'll be charged $49.99 when it ends, and Pro will renew automatically every month at $49.99 until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime, including during the trial. On iPhone, Apple's terms set the deadline for canceling before a trial ends or a subscription renews.
- If the price shown when you subscribe is different, for example because it's in your local currency, that price applies.
Buying Pro on iPhone
Pro in the iPhone app is sold through Apple's App Store and billed by Apple. Apple's terms govern the purchase, renewals, cancellations and refunds. To manage or cancel, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Buying Pro on the web (coming soon)
Paying for Pro on the web isn't available yet. When web subscriptions launch, payments will be processed by Stripe, and you'll sign in with your email address, which is used only for billing. We'll update these terms before then.
Price changes
We may change Pro's price. We'll tell you before a new price applies to your subscription, so you can cancel if you don't want to pay it. On iPhone, Apple's rules for price changes also apply.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel Pro anytime. Canceling stops future renewals.
- On iPhone: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Apple's terms decide when Pro ends after you cancel.
- On the web: web subscriptions aren't available yet.
Deleting the app or your edits doesn't cancel your subscription.
Refunds. Apple handles refunds for purchases made in the iPhone app. Request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't refund App Store purchases ourselves.
Nothing in these terms limits any right the law gives you to cancel or get a refund.
Third-party services
CutGPT relies on services run by other companies:
- Apple, for the App Store, iPhone subscriptions and speech recognition.
- Superwall, which runs the paywall in the iPhone app.
- Hugging Face and jsDelivr, which serve the speech model and runtime files the web app downloads.
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Stripe, for web payments once web subscriptions launch.
Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. We don't control these services and aren't responsible for them. If one changes or stops working, parts of CutGPT may stop working too. When you post your videos elsewhere, that platform's terms apply.
Intellectual property
CutGPT, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to CutGPT and its licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to it beyond the license below.
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use CutGPT as these terms allow.
CutGPT includes open-source software, such as OpenAI's Whisper speech model, which the web app uses. Open-source components are covered by their own licenses, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, CutGPT is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
In particular, we don't promise that:
- Transcripts, cuts or captions will be accurate or complete.
- CutGPT will be uninterrupted or error-free, or work on every device or browser.
- Edits stored in your browser or on your iPhone won't be lost.
- Videos made with CutGPT will get views or sales.
The time-saved and money figures on the result page are estimates, not measurements. The money figure uses the hourly value you pick in Settings.
Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- CutGPT isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from CutGPT or these terms.
- Our total liability for all claims about CutGPT or these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for CutGPT in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100.
These limits apply whatever the legal theory, even if we were told the damage was possible.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against CutGPT because of your content, your use of CutGPT, or your breaking these terms or the law, you agree to cover our resulting losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees. We'll tell you about any such claim. This applies only to the extent the law allows.
Termination
You can stop using CutGPT anytime. If you have Pro, cancel it too, because deleting the app or your edits doesn't cancel it.
We may suspend or end your access to CutGPT if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering CutGPT. If we stop offering it, we'll give reasonable notice when we can.
Your edits stay on your device, and videos you've exported are yours to keep. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue after they end, such as Your content, Intellectual property, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, Indemnity and Governing law, will continue.
Changes
We may update these terms, for example when web subscriptions launch. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll let you know on the site or in the app before it takes effect.
If you keep using CutGPT after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using CutGPT and cancel any subscription.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where CutGPT is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you're a consumer, you keep the protections of the law where you live that can't be waived by contract, including any right it gives you to bring a claim in your local courts.
If you have a dispute with us, please email support@example.com first so we can try to resolve it informally.
General
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer these terms without our permission. We may transfer them, for example if CutGPT is sold or reorganized.
- These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about CutGPT.
