Where your videos are stored
In the web app, your videos and edits stay in your browser. They're never uploaded to CutGPT.
Updated
The CutGPT web app runs in your browser, on your computer. Your videos, transcripts and edits are stored in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) on that computer. They're never uploaded to CutGPT.
What that means
- Your edits stay in one browser on one computer. They don't move to other computers or browsers.
- Edits aren't backed up. If you clear the site's data, or click Delete all edits in Settings, they're gone.
- Your settings, like cut pace and caption style, are stored in your browser too.
On iPhone
The iPhone app stores your edits on your iPhone. It uses the camera and microphone to record, and has add-only access to Photos so it can save finished edits.
It transcribes with Apple's on-device speech recognition. Only if no on-device engine is available does it fall back to Apple's speech recognition servers. In that case, audio is sent to Apple in chunks under 50 seconds, and Apple's privacy policy applies.
The app's subscription screen is powered by Superwall, which receives the device and usage information it needs to show that screen and check your subscription.
